(Dry Ridge, Kentucky) Grant County Sheriff Chuck Dill says Shaun and Nicole Hiles had a history of domestic violence, but no arrest were ever made. Sheriff Dill said Nicole had just filed for a restraining order Monday, but that didn't stop 35-year-old Shaun from ambushing his 33-year-old estranged wife and her boyfriend as they arrived at a home on Mulligan Avenue in Dry Ridge. Shaun chased down Larry Whitaker and Nicole then smashed his SUV into Whitaker's pickup truck causing it to crash. Shaun then shot Nicole dead with a handgun through the passenger window, grabbed a rifle and shot Whitaker dead, and then turned the gun on himself injuring his chest and stomach. Shaun Hiles was airlifted to UC Medical center and is expected to recover. No word yet on what charges Shaun Hiles may be facing. Officers report he is already on probation in Dearborn County, Indiana for some type of assault charge which did not involve Nicole Hiles.
