Following the death of Harold Ramis earlier this week, writers of the in-development "Ghostbusters 3" will continue work on the project, altering the script.

Ramis, who played Dr. Egon Spengler, was set to make a cameo appearance with fellow Ghostbusters Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray in a passing-of-the-torch scene to a new generation of Ghostbusters, rumored to be played by Jonah Hill and Emma Stone.

Director Ivan Reitman will meet with writers and production executives in the coming days to determine how the script will be altered.

Ramis died at age 69 due to complications from autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis.
