Evanescence's Amy Lee said she has no plans for the band in the foreseeable future.

"The situation is we're not doing it now," Lee said when asked about the band's status.

The singer, who recently gave birth to a son, did not go so far as to say Evanescence was finished for good.

"I've loved my time with Evanescence, I wouldn't want to just throw it away, but, for the foreseeable future, I don't have any plans to do anything with the band. It's really important to me to take some time to show some different sides of myself."

While she effectively controlled Evanescence, Lee said that creating music under that moniker was limiting in that fans had certain expectations.

"With the fans, with myself, I know what Evanescence is; it's an entity, it's bigger than just myself, which is awesome, but I can write a song and go, 'That is or isn't an Evanescence song,' and they both happen. So there does need to be other outlets for me to make music."

Lee wrote and recorded the score for the film "War Story" with Dave Eggar. The music will be released August 25. Listen to a sample:
