MARGOT KIDDER LOIS LANE OF SUPERMAN DIES AT 69

posted by SCULLY -

MARGOT KIDDER died at her home in Montana on Sunday.  There's no word on a cause of death, but her manager said she died peacefully in her sleep.  She was 69 years old.

Most people remember Margot as Lois Lane in the four CHRISTOPHER REEVE "Superman" movies that came out between 1978 and 1987.

She was also in three classic '70s horror flicks:  "Sisters", "Black Christmas", and "The Amityville Horror" . . . all of which have been remade in recent years.

In 1990, she was involved in a serious car crash and ended up bankrupt.  A few years later, she was found wandering around L.A., obviously struggling with mental illness. She later said, quote, "I was like one of those ladies you see talking to the space aliens on the street corner in New York."Despite that battle, she was able to keep working, and even won an Emmy for a guest appearance on the children's show "R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour" in 2015.

In a nod to her personal struggles, she even played a psychiatrist in Rob Zombie's "Halloween 2" in 2009.

Like her most famous character, Margot also wrote news articles.  She did several pieces for a website called CounterPunch . . . including one about how the Democratic National Committee screwed over BERNIE SANDERS.

MARC MCCLURE played Jimmy Olson to Margot's Lois Lane, and he said, quote, "Margie was one of the strongest women I've ever known . . . she spoke her mind . . . She stood up for people.  She protected me on the set . . . I was just a kid at the time."
