On May 25, George Floyd was killed after a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck for over eight minutes, two of which he was unresponsponsive. He said he couldn't breathe. He pleaded for the cop to get off him, but he didn't. This is just the latest African American man to die at the hands of law enforcement, and many citizens are fed up, including celebrities.
Stars from all walks of life are calling for justice, including many in the rock community. On Saturday (May 30), Billie Joe Armstrong condemned President Trump as a "mad racist king" after calling current protestors "thugs" and white people protesting the closed economy earlier this month "very good people."
"Say his name. Demand Justice. Donate. #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd #BlackLivesMatter" they captioned a graphic designed by artist Natalie Bui that includes the following organizations: Official George Floyd Memorial Fund, Campaign Zero, Minnesota Freedom Fund, Reclaim The Block, and Black Visions Collective.
