Dallas Love Field Is North America's Best 'Large' Airport

A study by J.D. Power on airport satisfaction found that Dallas Love Field is North America's best airport among those with 10 to 32.9 million passengers per year.

According to J.D. Power's 2020 North America Airport Satisfaction Study, satisfaction with North American airports has risen sharply since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic as passengers are able to quickly move through security checkpoints, baggage claim, restaurant lines, and retail services.

Michael Taylor, travel intelligence lead at J.D. Power, stated on the website, "the lack of crowds and long lines is actually creating a very convenient experience for travelers right now."

The study ranks Dallas Love Field the highest among large airports with a score of 844 out of 1,000. The scores are based on six factors: terminal facilities, airport arrival/departure, baggage claim, security check, check-in/baggage check, and food, beverage, and retail.

The airport, which is home to Dallas-based Southwest Airlines, moved up to take the first place spot after coming in second place last year. John Wayne Airport, Orange County came in second this year with Tampa International Airport coming in third.

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport ranked 6th on the list of "mega" airports, or those with 33 million or more passengers per year with an over score of 791.
