Texas Man Arrested After 13-Year-Old Daughter Drove Them To Get Ice Cream

A man in Lubbock, Texas, ended up behind bars earlier this month because he asked his 13-year-old stepdaughter to take him on a drunk munchies run.

“She was driving her stepfather to get ice cream because he was drunk,” the police report detailed.

Javier Martinez-Aguilar, 42, was in the passenger seat on September 9 when the teen was pulled over by Lubbock police for a traffic violation. A police car nearly crashed into the SUV the teen was driving because she failed to yield the right away. It's understandable that a 13-year-old might not know traffic laws since she's not even old enough to have a learner's permit.

When police pulled her over, that's when the truth came out. The girl didn't have a license and registration, and told that police that she was driving to get ice cream because Martinez-Aguilar couldn't, according to records.

Martinez-Aguilar was so intoxicated that he had trouble getting his ID card out of his wallet when asked by police.

The stepdad was arrested and taken to jail and a relative had to drive the teen home. Martinez-Aguilar was charged with endangering a child and criminal negligence on Tuesday.
